Isra is a Full Spectrum Doula, with over 5 years of birth supporting experience. She received the doula call in 2016 after the birth of her second child. As a young mother, she felt she lacked the information needed to have the most optimal birth experience and to self advocate for herself. With this feeling, she looked into “birth supporting”. Soon she discovered the role of a Doula! She never heard of a doula, but after her previous birth experiences she knew that she wanted other birthing people to be able to self advocate for themselves and to feel supported when birthing their children.
She has received training through several doula agencies, as well as training and certifications for pregnancy loss support and breastfeeding support.
She feels that pregnancy and birth are empowering times for birthing people and feels these moments need to be reclaimed more as sacred acts. Through her learning journey as a support person, she has learned valuable insights on how people are capable of birthing strongly. To her birth comes in many forms. However a person gives birth, she hopes that they do so intentionally and intuitively. She feels that creation and birth is a wondrous experience that can possibly translate over to other moments in life that require power, and deep rooted strength. She wishes to empower birthing people with the tools needed to experience optimal outcomes, and continue to support families within her community to thrive when welcoming in new life, and beyond.
